COVID-19 update:

Thank you during these difficult times for being patient as we work immensely hard to navigate this new way of life. Our administrative staff has been working hard to rearrange schedules and accommodate everyone. Dr Palermo and Dr Manzella are available for any emergency treatment during the week. We are hoping to expand our services to include cosmetics and routine preventative care by June 8 so that we can continue to preserve valuable PPE for the front line personnel dealing with COVID-19 in the hospitals.

We want to take this opportunity to let you know the changes that you will see at our office. Since safety will always be our first priority for our patients and staff we have implemented a multiple layer protection program at the office. Each layer alone is not enough but when added together will give our patients and staff the highest level of protection possible and go well above and beyond what is recommended by the CDC and ADA.

Upon entering our practice you will be asked to sanitize your hands at one of our many new sanitation stations. We ask you wear a mask upon entering however we have masks available for all patients to wear if you forget one. Your temperature will be taken and you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire to ensure you have no signs or symptoms of COVID19. You will notice no magazines and toys in the waiting area since they are not easily sanitized. We have installed sneeze guards at the front desk area. The waiting area has been rearranged to have 6 ft of space between all chairs and we have a pager system to allow you to wait in your car if you prefer to allow for maximum social distancing. Upon entering the operatory you will be asked to sanitize your hands again, your temperature and vital signs will be taken, disposable protective eye wear will be given to you and you will be asked to rinse with a pre procedure rinse to decrease the total viral and bacterial load inside your mouth. You will notice that the staff is now wearing N95 masks, goggles, gowns, hair nets, face shields and gloves. This is for your protection as well as our own. While we work we will have our new extra oral suction units available that will remove any aerosol produced right at the source in addition to our high volume suction. We have installed a new air purification system from “Surgically Clean Air” that includes a 6 stage filtration process including HEPA filters and UV light sanitation to clean and sterilize the air every 5 min throughout the entire office from the waiting room to the operatories. All operatories will be cleaned and sanitized between patients following all guidelines set by OSHA and CDC including sterilizing the air and mopping the floors. Twice daily we will be utilizing a fogging technique to remove any virus and bacteria that may remain and ensure the air is completely clean. This technique is recommended by world renown infection control specialist at Mass General Dr. Leslie Fang. To allow time for the extra sterilization and sanitation procedures that are being followed we will allow more time between appointments and have hired additional staff to help with these cleaning protocols. The staff will be meticulously cleaning all countertops, bathrooms, door knobs, carpets and floors, etc on an hourly basis. Upon completion of your treatment you will be asked to rinse again, place your mask back on, sanitize your hands and practice social distancing on your way out. As more is learned about the coronavirus you can be sure we will implement any technology to keep you safe while in our office.

Thank You again for your understanding during these trying times and we look forward to seeing you again here at Wachusett Family Dental and rest assured we will be fully committed to keeping you healthy and safe during your visit.
